8x8 pad grid matrix with customisable controls

Equipped with 64 new backlit RGB pads, the APC Mini MKII builds on the design of the original version with new and improved controls. From the studio to the stage, the APC Mini features everything you need to create captivating live performances and create music within Ableton Live. The scrollable pad matrix makes it easy to navigate between audio clips, instruments, launch loops and much more.

The grid is also customisable so you can set up the pad matrix to suit your playing style. Control volume, panning, filters, automation and more using the nine built-in faders that allow you to instantly interact with sounds and settings. Activating ‘Device Mode’, the APC Mini with automatically map the eight Macro Controls of Ableton Live’s selected device to the APC Mini’s faders. There is also ‘Soft Keys’ for accessing solo, mute stop and record arm functions.

Drum mode and real-time key scale/key changes

Reminiscent of classic drum machine designs, the APC Mini can also be turned into a drum pad itself using Ableton’s Drum Rack. When used alongside the Drum Rack, the AMPC Mini will isolate a 4x4 section of the pad matrix to control Ableton, whilst allowing you to re-assign the remaining pads. This allows for deep customisation options when it comes to the layout and performance of the APC Mini.

Selecting the ‘Smart Scale View Mode’, the APC Mini will give you instant visual feedback to indicate when keys/scales are changing. When selecting this mode, the APC Mini will display the musical key currently selected across the pads so you know what scale you’re using. For those looking for inspiration or those with little music theory, the new ‘Notes Mode’ allows you to play pitch-perfect melodies within Ableton Live without ever triggering the wrong note.

Get started straight out of the box with the inclusion of Ableton Live Lite – a condensed version of the award-winning software that provides everything you need to create sounds, songs and performances. Jam-packed with instruments, sounds, samples and powerful effects; Ableton Live Lite provides all the tools you need to translate your musical ideas into reality.

If that wasn’t enough, Akai Professional has also teamed up with AIR Music Technology – including a variety of high-end plugin instruments. Hybrid 3 is a powerful polyphonic analog synthesizer virtual instrument featuring over 1200 onboard sounds and three ‘high-definition’ oscillators, as well as dual filtering and saturation modes. Mini Grand is a faithfully recreated piano instrument with seven different acoustic piano sounds as well as built-in room simulation and re-pedalling technology to replicate the behaviour of string resonance. Last but not least is Velvet – a virtual electronic piano featuring five legendary electric pianos from the 60 and 70s.
