Exotic Tonewoods

The RG1070PBZ is crafted from basswood which is a lightweight and versatile tonewood. Basswood allows you to sculpt your tone with the pickup selection and controls, and it will adapt to a wide range of sounds and playing styles with a balanced frequency response. The body is topped with exotic poplar burl; this is a 7mm top (not just a laminate) and adds a stand-out aesthetic with the Charcoal Black finish. The top also adds additional high-frequency overtones and helps bring out a wider harmonic content in your sound.

The neck is crafted from 11 pieces of panga panga, maple, walnut, and purpleheart. This mixture creates a stable and resonant addition to your tone - it also looks particularly good-looking from the back, finished in satin to show off the wood grain and laminate design.

Fast Playability

Every specification of the RG1070PBZ is honed towards an effortless playing feel. The neck is crafted with the thin Ibanez Wizard profile and mounted with 24 jumbo frets for improved finger control over the strings. The fingerboard has a very flat 400mm radius for a thoroughly modern playing feel that will enable the most technically demanding styles of playing.

The frets are stainless-steel and finished with the Ibanez Premium Fret Edge treatment. Not only does this give the frets enhanced durability and a brighter, more resonant tone; it also gives them a wonderfully smooth feel under the fingers.

The all-access bolt-on neck joint and deeply sculpted double cutaway body enable easy access across the entire length of the neck, so you'll have no barriers when playing the most demanding fingerboard gymnastics. The neck has a satin finish on the back which adds to the smooth and tactile playing feel.

Pro-Quality Hardware for Enhanced Stability

The neck is crafted from 11 pieces of wood which gives it enhanced strength and resilience to changing humidity conditions. Gotoh MG-T locking tuners ensure you'll be able to get tuned-up accurately while the locking design means string changes can be done very quickly.

The Edge-Zero II tremolo bridge is designed to give a smooth action for the most energetic of whammy bar use. It also gives precise adjustment over individual string action and intonation. The tremolo is partnered with the ZPS3Fe system which allows you to alter the tremolo tension without using any tools.

Luminescent side dot inlays are another nice touch that gives you enhanced visibility on dark stages.

DiMarzio Pickups for Versatile Tonal Range

The trio of DiMarzio pickups are wired with a 5-way switch giving you access to humbucker, single coil, and combined-coil sounds. This combination performs equally well with clean and overdriven sounds.

The Air Norton neck humbucker is a deep and warm-sounding pickup with a reduced pull on the strings from the patented magnetic structure. This creates a tone free from 'muddiness' with a wide range of harmonic content and plenty of sustain; ideal for a nuanced-sounding neck-position pickup.

The True Velvet middle-position single coil is a vintage-sounding pickup that's clean and bright, but not harsh when playing above the 12th fret. It has great clarity, even with full chords.

The Tone Zone is a high output pickup with a wide dynamic range that will respond to every nuance of your playing. It can give single notes huge depth, while making chords sound huge. A wide range of overtones makes The Tone Zone a versatile pickup with a wide range of tonal potential.
