Boasting Blackstar’s highest gain Overdrive circuit to date, the St. James is ready to make jaws drop with some searing distortion. Crank this circuit for an ultra-saturated, filthy distortion that will put menace into your music. Whether it’s heavy metal or hard rock, the St. James combo is more than up to the task.

Classic cleans

For those times you don’t want distortion, the St. James features a classic US style clean channel. Remarkably clear and with plenty of top end chime, this channel will voice every note and nuance in perfect detail. Even better, you’ll get all the touch sensitive dyamics that valve amps are known for too, so you can restrain the volume with a soft pick attack, or introduce some edge and breakup by hitting the strings with force.

Light as a feather

Cut out the carry weight. If you’ve ever hauled a tube amp around before, you know that they’re heavy creatures. Well, Blackstar have done the impossible and slashed the weight of the St. James down to half that of comparable tube amps. That’s right, half. It makes it so much easier to get to gigs, practice or the studio, and means you can always be equipped with your favourite valve amp sound.

Switchable power modes:

Find your tone. Switchable between 50W, 2W and SAG modes, you’ve got a plethora of voicings available with the St. James. The lower power outputs also mean that you can practice without disturbing the neighbours, as it will let you get full valve tones at lower volumes.

Build on your sound

Equipped with an all-valve effects loop, the St. James allows you to put your stamp on the sound. The performance will be dynamic, responsive and, most importantly, accurate, so you can go wild with the stompoboxes and create that ideal soundscape you’re looking for. And to start you off, it comes included with a footswitch, so you flick between the two channels in a fluid fashion.

It certainly isn’t all that the St. James offers though, because if the mighty Celestion speaker housed in the amp isn’t enough, then you can attach even more speakers to it through its built-in speaker outputs!
