As the world leaders in music education, the team at Yamaha know their stuff when it comes to making learning fun and easy. That's why, for the YOB241B30, they have opted for a semi-automatic octave system with a thumbplate. By pressing the thumbplate down, it holds down two keys on the front of the oboe. The dual system is ideal for advancing players, as you've got the ease of using the thumbplate but also the right mechanics in place to use conservatoire fingering if you wish. Also, the YOB241B30 features a fingerplate for the right index finger for improved comfort - especially beneficial for players with smaller hands.
ABS resin is the ideal body material for students because it's durable and will cope with any scrapes or knocks much better than wood. Also, it's resistant to changes in temperature and humidity, which means it'll consistently give a reliable performance where wood sometimes warps with heat and this can affect the tone. As a student, reliable intonation is a priority as you get to know your instrument. Yamaha's woodwind knowledge and experience means they have used an ABS material that replicates the warm sound of wood, so beginners will be able to experience a beautiful tone.
