Ashdown have been furthering bass amplification since '97. The RM-500-EVO II provides a wealth of incredible features, including a sub-harmonic synth, compressor, and a VU meter for monitoring the strength of your signal. Now using lighter materials and technologies, Ashdown managed to make a bass amp that a child could happily carry to a gig - it's just 2.4kg!
Providing a huge range of crystal-clear tones is no easy task. But Ashdown have only gone and done it. This head wouldn't look out of place in a tight funk band right up to a monolithic rock outfit. The functionality of the RM-500-EVO II is what makes this possible, with a feature set as long as your arm. More tones than ever before just became possible.
At its core, the EVO II has a 3-band EQ which is pretty standard: bass, middle, and treble. But you get an additional two rotary knobs that allow you to sculpt the mid-range further, altering the character and voice of your amp. It's worth keeping these additional knobs at 'noon' to begin with and adjusting if needs be. And it's got another trick up its tonal sleeve - the 'shape' button. Engaged, it adds a boost to the subs at 50hz of 8dB and a further 10dB up at 10khz. Thanks to this, you'll enjoy that extra bit of presence in your music - great for adding fatness to your sound.
Add grit, warmth, and grind when you want it. Meticulously crafted and modelled, the tube emulation is added in parallel with the clean signal which keeps the weight and bottom end intact. This is flawless overdrive that'll never ruin your tone.
The Ashdown RM-500 features a balanced XLR DI that is post EQ and FX. This means that when you plug into a PA or a mixer, you're getting exactly the tone you dialled in. If you need more weight to your tone, then there's an external speaker out that allows you to add an additional 8-ohm speaker cab. But it isn't just live and studio applications that allow this to shine - a line-in and a headphone preamp mean you can play along to your favourite tracks in silence. Which is great for practicing.
