This Headrush MX5 is an amp modeller, meaning it contains a host of different amp types (46) for you to play with, all with the controls and features you'd find on a physical amp. The built-in cab sims and mic emulations also have a huge impact on your sound, letting you experiment with numerous different cab and microphone tones. On top of this, you can easily load your desired impulse responses into this beast, giving you an even more dynamic, authentic tonal workstation. And the expression pedal is more dynamic than you think, being able to select setlists and change various parameters on the fly without having to touch the screen. This is the perfect tool for use in the studio and onstage.

There's nothing you can’t do with this unit. It all starts with the crystal-clear touchscreen, which lets you navigate through all your settings with unparalleled ease. The interface itself is incredibly intuitive, displaying all your effects and amp/cab models in one place. In addition to the incredible built-in effects, which include a superb looper for writing and performing, there's also a built-in stereo effects loop for adding your own pedals into the mix. With this, you can use the four cable method to add in stereo pedals too, creating luscious soundscapes in the process.

Record and re-amp via USB, which allows you to add in your own IRs and use the MX5 as a 24-bit interface. Boasting a MIDI input and output, this beast caters to patch controls, footswitch expansions and much more. Your live shows can become so much more with these capabilities. The headphone output completes the setup, allowing you to plug in and play in an instant – and make no external noise. This amp modeller will improve every facet of your rig.

2.5 Firmware Update

The HeadRush amp and FX library is continuously expanding. Users have spoken and the creators have listened, delivering with two new amp models, a host of new FX, the ability to assign two scenes to one footswitch, and a slew of improvements and optimisations for existing FXs and the UI.

The two new amps consist of the sparkling clean guitar 84 J-120H, based on a pristine clean solid-state model that's known for lush, enveloping sounds. Meanwhile bassists will love the new 83 400R amp which offers classically smooth and characterful tones.

These go in hand with new features for the modulation, dynamics/EQ and reverb/delay FX categories, expanding the already staggering tone shaping available in the MX5. Together with the huge addition of the ability to add two scenes to one footswitch, the flexibility and fluidity of the MX5 has just reached another level. What are you waiting for?
