The Peavy Invective Guitar Amp Head is the ultimate 3 channel amplifier head for a modern metal guitarist, delivering an abundance of features alongside a versatile range of natural tones. Developed in collaboration with Misha Mansoor of Periphery, the Invective is crafted to cover all the tones required by a metal guitarist today. It features 3-channels which cover the entire gain range, from clean to crunch, and then onto full-blown saturation. Each channel has independent gain/level controls for maximum sonic manipulation, while a dual boost circuit enables you to push either the clean or crunch/lead channels into increased saturation for pushed-clean and solo tones.
This amp also delivers a huge 120 watts of power with high quality JJ 6L6 tubes, switchable to a half-power mode for smaller gigs and rehearsals. Dual effects loops and an emulated MSDI output provide professional connectivity for the stage and the studio. A fully featured MIDI pedal is included to give you control over many of the amp's function, making it the ideal platform to build your rig around. Other features include a noise gate, top mounted bias test/adjustment points, master presence/resonance controls, and a MIDI-thru output. The Peavy Invective 120 is an all-encompassing platform for creating every tone you could require, featuring three modes that cover clean, crunch and lead gain-levels. Each channel has independent gain and level controls, so you can craft the ideal amount of saturation in each mode – accessed at the push of a button. A further two onboard boosts allow you to push the clean channel or the crunch/lead channel into increased saturation; perfect for vintage pushed clean sounds or solo tones with smooth saturation and enhanced compression.
On the clean channel, you’ll find a full assortment of EQ controls which allow you to sculpt your sound, while the crunch and lead channels share an EQ section. This allows you to tailor the sound between the clean/overdrive modes to match your guitar. An extra noise-gate on the crunch/lead channels helps you control extraneous noise and is perfect for loud stages as well as studio use.
Highly connectable
The Invective 120 also features a MSDI cabinet emulated output for hassle-free live and studio tones. Independent level and tone controls let you shape this sound from directly on board the amp, while a ground lift helps remove ground-loop noise. Dual FX loops allow you to integrate the Invective 120 with your own pedals and rack effects, while 2 DC outputs allow you to power 500mA circuits directly from the amplifier. A MIDI-through lets you connect a range of MIDI gear and opens a world of integration options.
Tube power & MIDI control
A quartet of matched JJ 6L6 power tubes give the Invective a raw and organic valve tone with huge headroom – perfect for a stage of any size. Should you find the volume to be a touch too much, the half-power mode allows you the option of taming the output for those smaller gigs and rehearsals. Parallel speaker outputs and switchable impedances allow you to adapt the amp to almost any cabinet set up.
Complete with an extensive, intuitive and versatile MIDI footswitch, you’ll be able to exercise full control over this amplifier’s vast array of functions.
