Peavey have spent a lot of time developing innovative technologies that are capable of accurately reproducing that tube tone. Many factors will have been taken into consideration, such as ensuring the damping and corresponding speaker response is exactly the same as an original tube tone amplifier. Other considerations such as the cabinet size, bracing, wood and thickness act as key components of a larger creative endeavour – and what this time and attention to detail has resulted in is an incredibly versatile, well-rounded, transtube amplifier which will actively adapt to any environment you place it.
Dual channels
Perfect for rehearsals, the Rage 258 features a range of controls that allow you additional sonic options to enhance your creativity. You can choose between lead tones with a vintage twist or a more modern stack sound. Within the lead section of this amp, there are turning dials for pre gain which add extra noise when driven hard, the preamp section tailors gain to meet the players need for any amount of drive, from crystal-clear, to thick, smooth sustain.
The power amp reacts just the same as a tube output section by responding to the amp with natural compression that gets bigger as the amp gets louder. It features an AUX input/direct output, so you can play along with all your favourite tunes. Also equipped with a headphone input which allows for silent playing, so you can jam on through the night, without worrying about the neighbours.
Classic Peavey styling
From Peavey's past to the present, they have carried an original Peavey look unique to their amplifiers. The Rage 258 has signature picture frame edges which are reinforced to protect the structure of the amp. The amplifier also has a silver/black woven mesh front with silver panels parallel to one another which provides more edge to the Peavey look. Centralised and mounted onto a black rim sits the classic Peavey hieroglyphics screaming everything rock 'N' roll. In the right-hand top corner is an easily accessible on/off switch with the Rage 258 hieroglyphs and the classic Transtube logo.
