The Clavinova CVP 701 accurately replicates the sound of two of the world's finest grand pianos: Yamaha's flagship CFX concert grand, and the highly acclaimed Concert 290 Imperial from renowned Austrian piano manufacturer B�sendorfer. Yamaha's Grand Expression Modelling translates the varied input from an experienced player into the same limitless tonal variation you'd hear with a real grand piano. Playing the keys to different depths and at different speeds all affects the brilliance or mellowness of the output, as well as simply the dynamics. Having access to the same expressiveness as an acoustic grand is important for both experienced players and students, as the Clavinova will offer a platform for pianists to learn to play with the same techniques that they can employ on a genuine piano.

Natural key response

The Yamaha Clavinova CVP-701 features an 88-key synthetic ivory keyboard with Linear Graded Hammer action, giving you the realistic touch and response of a true grand piano. When pressed, each key throws a metal hammer which plays the note, much like the action of a genuine acoustic piano. The hammers are graded in size and weight to give a heavier response on the bass notes and a lighter touch at the treble end.

Learn and play

The feature-rich Clavinova CVP-701 includes Session Mode, in which you get to play along with up to three pre-recorded session musicians. The playback of the backing adjusts to your harmonic and dynamic changes, and responds to your commands to play intros, outros, fills, and variations between verses and choruses. With 40 different musical styles and over 700 instrument voices to explore, the options are practically endless. Once you've mastered a performance, you can record it onto the CVP-701 with the push of a button.

The Guide feature allows you to learn a new piece, note-by-note. The keys will light up in order for you to follow along with. Guide mode accompanies you with fully-arranged orchestrations and arpeggios, but the recording plays along with you, rather than the other way around! The backing track will only progress once you press the correct note, so you won't be left behind, allowing you to build confidence and learn at your own pace.

Sing-along

Connect a microphone (not included) to sing along with your playing through the Clavinova's excellent speaker system. Alternatively, you can download karaoke song files from Yamaha PianoSoft, or even connect your smart phone or MP3 device to the piano to play and sing along to anything you like! The Clavinova CVP-701 comes with a range of studio-quality effects for your voice, such as reverb, echo, and even Vocal Harmony.
