The BF-22 bases its design on the iconic Sallen-Key filter. This special filter has been used in one of the most iconic synthesizers from music history. It was revered for its unique tonality and sonic characteristics, providing an aggressive, gritty yet rich sound.
Befaco have design the BF-22 as a faithful recreation of the classic filter. This dual high/low-pass filter can deliver everything from subtle grittiness to screeching in your face textures. It works by using the op-amp as a voltage-controlled voltage source amplifier. The two-pole Sallen-Key design delivers a unique tonality thanks to its specialised circuitry.
In addition to the standard cutoff and resonance CV control, the BF-22 includes attenuverters. The resonance is more defined, providing added presence for modern-day applications. The ergonomic layout features sleek white knobs complete with vintage-style switches. The potentiometers are labelled with lines that correspond to the relevant connection.
With 10 patch points int total, the Sallen-Key filter can be used with a variety of audio sources. CV connections are included for the resonance and cutoff on both filters. Also included are dedicated inputs and outputs for both filters also.
The built-in Link switch allows you to connect a second unit to the output of the BF-22. This allows you to daisy-chain multiple units for added versatility. The CV control for the cutoff keeps tracking through three octaves for optimal precision. The sleek and stylish faceplate features an aluminium heat-treated front panel.
