High-End Versatile Preamps

The SPL Channel One is one of the most complete recording channel strips available on the market, thanks to its wide-range of premium grade components and innovative design. The SPL Channel One includes a hybrid transistor/tube preamplifier with inputs for microphones, instruments and line-level equipment. The high-end preamps are designed to bring out the best of your inputs. The microphone input features integrated 48V Phantom Power for capturing studio-grade recording, whilst using a condenser microphone. The low-impedance Line input boasts a precise balance stage for connecting studio equipment such as sequencers. The low-noise and high-impedance instrument input is easily accessible via the front panel, allowing you to record instruments such as electric guitars and more.

Compressor/Limiter

The SPL Channel One Recording Strip also includes an integrated Compressor/Limiter. Based on design of the SPL Double-VCA-Drive circuitry, the Compressor/Limiter section delivers outstanding noise and distortion characteristics. The signal-dependent automation delivers 'set and forget' operation, ideal for quick and easy configuration. The compressor/limiter is ideal for controlling levels from vocal recordings to instruments. You can differentiate between the compressor and limiter by opting to turn the limiter on, switching from compression to limiting capabilities. The limiter itself does not function as a peak limiter, ensuring minimal distortion; with the limiter being controlled by the Compression potentiometer.

De-Esser

The SPL De-Esser has been incorporated into the design of the SPL Channel One, ideal for boosting your vocal recording performance. The De-Esser is designed to subtly remove offending sibilant noises, eliminating only the ‘S’ frequencies with its innovative phase-cancelling processing technology. The Auto-Threshold parameters deliver constant processing, even when it comes to varied mic distances. The precise control, allows you to easily remove sibilance, whilst retaining the natural harmonic qualities of your source material.

3-Band EQ/Noise Gate

Also included is a 3-band EQ and Noise Gate. The 3-band EQ utilises a customised design, optimised to process vocals, acoustic and electronics instruments. The 3-band EQ section features Low, Mid HI and Air-Band for creating corrective adjustments and sound design application. The versatile noise gate operates flawlessly, even recognising Reverbs, ensuring they are now cut off while in use.

Headphone Monitor

One of the most convenient features in the SPL Channel One is the integrated headphone monitor, that provides an individual mix for the singer/artist. The high-end headphone monitor minimises latency problems that are normally associated with digital systems.

Design & Connectivity

The highly robust design of the SPL Channel One ensures it will stand the test of time. The sleek yet rugged metal chassis is rack-mountable taking up only 2U of space, making it ideal for both live and studio applications. The front-panel of the Channel One features a wide-range of potentiometers for each control. There is also switchable 48V Phantom Power as well as built-in low-pass filter that eliminates rumble while recording using the microphone input. The rear of the unit features all the major connection from the tube preamps inputs to inserts, playback inputs and even a ground lift switch.
