The Challenger 1 flugel horn is filled with premium features that you would expect from B&S. The gold brass bell found on the Challenger 1 is very popular for orchestral and brass band musicians as it reproduces a warmer sound compared to yellow brass. Once the Challenger 1 flugel has been constructed, a coating of clear lacquer is applied to keep the instrument looking newer for longer. Similar to other flugels by B&S, a trigger on the 3rd valve slides can be found to ensure tuning is never an issue. The valves in the Challenger 1 flugel are crafted from monel which is a nickel and copper alloy. The majority of premium flugels have monel valves because it is very dense and is more resistant to corrosion, meaning they won't flake and are less likely to seize up.
The included double hard wood-shell case is ideal for travelling players. Whether you're going to school, rehearsal, gigs or concerts, this case will protect your flugel from scratches and knocks, keeping your instrument feel like new for longer. The Challenger 1 also comes with a mouthpiece, so players can start to practise as soon as the flugel arrives. A maintenance care kit is included so players can maintain the high standards of their instrument for longer.
B&S uses both high-quality craftspeople combined with modern manufacturing processes to ensure only the highest quality instruments are produced. B&S have been designing and engineering instruments in Germany for the last 250 years, making sure the musician's needs are at the foundation of their work.
